What to Expect at Your Mediation Appointment?

The mediator’s primary role is to remain neutral. They are not taking sides and will not force you into decisions. Instead, the mediator guides the conversation, explains the legal context when needed, and helps you make informed choices that work for both parties.

You may be asked about:
✔ Children, parenting schedules, and school needs
✔ Financial circumstances
✔ Assets, debts, property, or support issues
✔ Any agreements already made

The mediator typically creates a clear agenda, which may include:

Parenting plan and Temporary Arrangements

Child and spousal support

Division of assets/debts

Communication guidelines

You’ll have the opportunity to express concerns, priorities, and goals, share what matters most to you., listen to the other person’s perspective and explore multiple solutions

The mediator may assist with options, offer sample schedules, and explain the typical standards used by family courts.

Instead of waiting for months to appear before a judge, mediation allows progress immediately.

You will walk away from the meeting with a draft of the proposed settlement that you and your spouse will finalize and sign together.  Once the two of you have completed these forms, you will return them to Team Works and we will process and file them for you.
